Adding Software Repositories to N900
For those who know me , knew that I’m a software junkie and need my daily fix of something new
, this addiction of mine is met by Nokia N900’s Maemo software repositories and with almost 2 GB of installable memory I can fill it to my heart’s content .
The best way to get Nokia N900′ software is to go to http://repository.maemo.org through the phone web browser , and under the Extra Repository For Community Applications heading install Fremantle Extras . Just tap install next to the Fremantle Extras and it will download the repository to your N900’s App Manager , easily accessible through making a shortcut on the Desktop . There is also a repository for Extra Development Repository for testing stable / unstable community applications , but a word of caution these files are still under development and testing and could harm your N900 ( mine hanged a couple of times and had to be reflashed through NSU )
Once installed , you can refresh it and get the latest software available for Nokia N900 , the repositories are updated almost everyday and browsing through categories makes it easier to find what you are looking for .
I’ve installed some 20 odd applications with many more to come
Do let me know if you know of any other repository for Fremantle /Â N900
In the second paragraph, you say
The best way to get Nokia N900′ software is to go to http://repository.mameo.org through
Please note, The URL is Incorrect. After some simple googling, i found it to be:
