Last year Nokia gave Symbian another fighting chance by introducing Symbian^3 on Nokia N8 and the hardware and software combined gave it a revival so much so that Nokia introduced Symbian Anna earlier this year and announced Symbian Belle in mid 2011 and in a few days it’s leaked versions started coming out for Nokia N8 .
Symbian Belle is a class of it’s own , it’s the OS which ignited the interest in Symbian Platform the same way Symbian 3 did when released with Nokia E61 . Still Symbian Belle is available for a few devices with leaked versions springing out for Nokia N8 every month or so and could launch in a few weeks. .
As the hype for Belle settles , Symbian Latino shows us a slide presented at Nokia Developer Day Mexico showing the mentions of Symbian Carla and Symbian Donna
Symbian Carla the next in line after Belle will feature Nokia Browser 8.0 , Dolby Surround Sound , NFC and ‘Best’ Widgets ( translated from Google Translate )
while Symbian Donna will be a game changer with support for Dual Core processors.
Now Symbian’s life is limited to a few more years , Nokia has already given it up to Accenture and has committed to support it till 2016 . With Symbian Carla and Donna , there still seems to be hope for Symbian , which may now not enjoy it’s dominant position as leader of mobile OS but will die a glorified death .
