Cricket Companion – First Pakistani App on OVI Store

 

Tricast Media , a software house based in Lahore -  Pakistan has became the first Pakistani developer to have their application added on the OVI Store.

Mobile apps are not new for Tricast , having worked earlier with Mobilink for the Cricket Companion , they have decided to take their app worldwide with OVI Store and Cricket Companion is their first venture .

 

Cricket is  life and blood of the sub continent , throw in any high profile match like the 20/20 between Pakistan and India last June , the streets were empty in both countries and people cheering their teams at home , on twitter and and FaceBook , for those who didn’t had the access to TV , radio and internet provided the required information .

With Cricket Companion  , staying glued to the screen is no longer necessary as it provided ball by ball report of the match being played along with data of the previous matches  be it IPL or the current Australia and New Zealand ODI Series. 

 

When the software begins , the main screen has the options to choose Current Matches ( Live updates )  , Recent Matches (  Divided as per tournament and series )  Schedule for future matches , which can be scheduled and marked and Results of past matches as tournament  summery .

When I tested it , there was Australia and New Zealand match going on and when the match was selected , the ball by ball score was being updated along with over summery at a glance .  The application was also able to show Inning graphs and run rate graphs (  when we tested Ausralia was playing and New Zealand has yet to play but we assume comparative graphs of both will be given ) .  Beside the match results , it also shows the full Squad details along with the ability to share match results via SMS .

       

In Recent Matches ,  it covers the matches played in the last few days , which were IPL in our test , and gives the summary at a glance including who scored what in both the teams and fall of wicket

In Schedule , one can see the upcoming matches along with set the favorites to watch which will trigger the Cricket Companion to start automatically at that particular time .

 

In Results , it shows the match list with winners and their concise details marked .

 

What I like about Cricket Companion is that not only it gives the required information , it’s also not heavy on downloads and phone usage , based on Java and powered by TWUIK technology , the software does what it advertises , although it lacks the frills of cricinfo like player snaps and all , tell me if you are on the go , do you want to see the players or ball by ball updates  .

 

The interface is very user friendly and easily understandable that even an novice can understand it , I particularly like the idea of application autostart when a match is selected in future , it’e like my own match reminder and with auto start and auto update ( to be defined in settings )  I don’t have to do a thing to be near my cricket.

Available for FREE at OVI Store , you can download the App directly on your phone from OVI Store App , and as it supports Java  , it may run on all the phones
