Nokia Lumia 800 got launched in London a day ago and hundreds of people are proud owners of this great phone and let’s face the reality ‘tens’ of them may loose or misplace in the coming weeks as according to BBC every hour some 228 phones are lost in UK .
But for your new Nokia Lumia 800 there is a ray of hope.
Go to www.windowsphone.com and login using your Microsoft ( Hotmail , MSN or Passport) account and register your phone with the Find my Phone service by registering your number with the service . Now if somehow your phone gets misplaced , you can logon to the site and see the location of your phone and can Ring , Erase or Lock it remotely.
Making the phone ring helps you find it amongst all the clutter ( I can also call it ) and I believe it will bypass the Silent mode and make the phone ring. Lock Phone requires a 4 digit PIN to unlock it while it will also make your phone ring .
For Erase phone , use it with caution , the service will wipe clean your device and will also make disconnect it from your account.
Unfortunately the service is only available in 36 countries including US , South Africa , India ,many countries in Europe and Asia.( It does not include Middle East and Pakistan ) .
I hope Microsoft takes a cue from Apple and like their make my iPhone service make Find my Phone a universal service.
