Google India Blog has just announced that beside US and India now people in 41 countries including Pakistan can now update their status and receive notifications via SMS.
The other countries in the list includes Afghanistan, Algeria, Angola, Bahrain, Benin, Cambodia, Cameroon, Congo (DRC), Cote D’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Guinea, Indonesia, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, Tunisia, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Zambia.
Activating your G+ SMS Notification is very simple , go to your G+ Page , click on settings , scroll down to Notification Delivery choose Phone and enter your phone number.
You will be asked for the country to determine the code
You will receive a verification code via SMS , enter it and you are all set.
Note : not all operators currently support G+ Status update like in Pakistan , it didn’t worked on Waridtel ( gave invalid number error when entered for SMS Verification ) but worked on Mobilink.
It’s a good effort from G+ following the footsteps of Facebook but again how many people use it is the main question as it didn’t turned out to be Facebook killer it was thought to be
