For those who know me are aware that I’m an avid book reader and have a library of more than a 1000 books in electronic form . I got hooked on e-books since my iMate Windows Phone aka HTC Himalaya running Windows Mobile 2003 and later when I shifted to Nokia N73 , it was MobiReader which kept my love for books alive however since 5800 XM , there was not a decent ebook reading client available for Symbian platform and I had to switch to Android or iOS devices to get my reading fix.
Well my days of running around are over , IONIC , a Epub reader client for Symbian is now available for free on Nokia Store and can be downloaded from HERE.
Coming from Aldiko ebook reader on Android and iBooks on iOS , I found IONIC to be very simple . The application let me include books from various online sites ranging from Operation Gutenberg to o’Reilly and I can also add my personal ebooks by saving them on the mass memory ( I choose folder named Ebook ) and clicking on Import and Ionic itself adds books to the library.
Reading on Ionic is very easy on the eyes as there are options to change the font and Zoom level of the text , to change page , either use the Volume keys or simply swipe up. You can also book mark the page for later reference and the application even opens up to the last read page and even supports images within the ePub file.
The screenshots below will give you a pictorial view of the application.
