Nokia Pakistan will launch their Nokia Care Protect service , an extended warranty program ,to help people make the most of their mobile phones in Pakistan.
The Nokia Care Protect is like a Warranty Extension same like Apple Plus and the likes which extends the warranty including repairs and support. of your specific Nokia phone by an additional 12 months for one upfront fee.
Nokia Care Protect can be purchased within the first 9 months of ( unlike other territories) the original warranty period i.e. date of first purchase and includes the following categories.
- Cat - 1 : Nokia 1000 series, 2000 series , C1 , C2 and X2
- Cat – 2 : Nokia 3000 Series , 7000 series , X3 , X5 , X6 , C3 , C5 , C6 and E5
- Cat – 3 : Nokia E Series and N Series devices.
The service is only available at Nokia Care Centers in Pakistan and cost
- Cat – 1 - Rs 600
- Cat- 2 – Rs 1550
- Cat -3 – Rs 2800
Do read the following points before you buy Care Protect Plan.
- The plan purchased is only valid for one mobile phone and cannot be transferred to another unless the phone is replaced due to fault ( still the same warranty period will apply with no extensions )
- The plan is non refundable in case the phone is sold , but can be transferred ( not officially ) to the purchaser.
- Nokia will fulfill unlimited claims during the original and extended warranty period ( In my personal experience , Nokia replaced my first N8 when it died within 3 months of purchase and earlier they replace the whole mother board of my E71 when its GPS died just 3 days before the warranty expired.)
- Battery and accessories are not covered in plan ( They are covered in initial 6 months warranty when purchased)
In our opinion it’s a great service offered by Nokia - As per Nokia’s survey people tend to keep their phones for the maximum of 24 months and they are now covering the whole of that , given the situation in Pakistan of constant electric fluctuations and use of non standard car chargers there is always a chance of frying the mother board and there Nokia Care Protect comes in handy to revive the phone .
Alas my phone is more than 9 months old but on my next Nokia purchase , hopefully the Lumia 900 I’ll definitly get the Nokia Care Protect service not because of Nokia’s quality which is immaculate but my tendency of playing with firmware of devices which once rendered my N8 useless for a day ( didn’t had the time to fix it )
