Nokia Touch The Music Event Karachi

Wednesday , Nov 5th 2009  , Nokia again acknowledge the importance of Pakistan market by introducing the upcoming X6 , X3 and Nokia 5230  to the local media and bloggers . 

Nokia is passionate about music and finds that people are passionate about their music too be it early in the morning when a jogger plugs in his head phones before starting his morning stroll to during the lunch break when a secretary in the office listens to the FM radio through her cell phone for entertainment music is the what refreshes their soul be it through Sufi , Bosa or Hard Rock

Nokia with the introduction of their Xpress Music line now known as X series has brought on dedicated music players with builtin phones making it the world’ largest Mp3 player manufacturer .

Keeping up with the latest times where ‘ Touch’ is IN ,  Nokia started launching their their Touch screen Music enabled phones , the pioneer being Nokia 5800 Xpress Music , followed by 5530 Xpress Music and now Nokia has introduced the Nokia 5230 Xpress Music and the latest Nokia X6 Touch enabled Music phones ,  both unique in their  own class . 

Where Nokia 5230 is among the most economical music enabled touch screen phone , the X6 goes high end with 32 GB Internal memory , 5 MP Camera and also the first Nokia Touch phone with a Capacitive screen .

The Touch The Music event started with audience first taken to the Xpress Music lounge , with vibrant disco inspired theme where they got to play with the phones and then led to the main hall where event started with Mr Imran Khalid Mahmood Country Head Nokia Pakistan and Mr Christophe Corsi Head of LIVE Category Nokia MEA

Mr Imran covered Nokia’s association with music and how Nokia is working to put a music player in everyone’s pocket be it a farmer or a business exec there is a Touch music player for everyone be it 5230 on the bottom of the price line to X6 as the top of the line music player . As he says  “Digital music is the future. In today’s world, the way we listen to music and enjoy it has changed completely. Nokia has been leading the music technology all the way. We are partnering with the leading artists and musicians.”

Nokia is planning to launch the Music Store in Pakistan being served through UAE store and soon with upcoming Nokia phone , Nokia will be providing vouchers for consumers to buy their music online . However Pakistan is still far away from the ‘ Comes with Music ‘ market , a all you can download program for one year with select phone available in many other markets .

Nokia has gone into exclusive partnerships with artists and music labels world wide and the music store will contain not only the international  hits from Rihanna and like but also local music albums like that from Atif Aslam , Strings etc and as per my information is already in touch with a local music label to take their whole portfolio online .

He made some interesting prediction that according to Nokia’s research that 24 % of Pakistan market is willing to pay Rs  8000 or above touch screen phones and Nokia 5230 could be priced around the figure .

Christophe Corsi talked about the trends in music , how they are changing and how Nokia plans to meet these upcoming changes . as per him Mobile phones are the new platform for digital music , with capabilities to download and  play music , it’s an ideal music player multifunctional , always handy and easy to update .

He says “ Our technology will drive the music industry. Our consumers want everything in one device. Digital convergence is happening now and Nokia is at the forefront of it. Nokia’s customer centric approach renders it in a strong position to combine the most wanted features in its music and touch devices.”

Overall a good event , and very casual too . If you notice the E series launch , all were in suits and ties and now for the Music series none were wearing ties portraying a laid back , relaxed image  ,  alas I was not there due to prior commitments so not able to give a full review of the same , neither till now I get to play with the phones so no feedback about the phones , will try to get hold of them from Nokia to inform you how they feel as compared to Nokia 5800 XM and iPhone .
