After the brief unboxing now we come to the walk around of the phone .
Samsung Galaxy Note is huge , it’s bigger then face of a 5 year old kid, so unless you have big hands don’t even think about getting the phone . For me I’m blessed with huge hands so I can easily handle it but holding it against my ear feels awkward so I primarily use it with my JawBone Icon headset. Starting with Walk Around, although you it’s size is intimidating , Samsung Galaxy Note is one of the thinness phones around measuring at just 9.7mm , although this thinness does not give it a cheap or flimsy look still handling it becomes a bit difficult.
The front of the phone is all business, with one Home Screen hardware key and two Capacitive Back and Menu keys which lights up when phone is in use. We also have a 2MP Front Cam right above the screen and and Ambience and Proximity Sensor.
At the back there is a 8MP AF Camera with a single LED flash , although nothing in comparison with the Nokia N8 , still the camera takes decent photographs especially during daytime. Below at the back is the speaker grill and S-Pen holder from which the Pen could be easily slid out.
On the top of the phone is the 3.5mm Headphone jack , while on the bottom is Micro USB Sync / Charge port. On the left side are Volume rocker keys and on the right is screen lock key.
The back cover of Samsung Galaxy Note is rather flimsy , although it seems sturdy we don’t recommend taking it off every day , once the cover is off , we are greeted by the equally large battery with capacity of 2500 mAh .
During our regular usage of WiFi and Bluetooth radios always on , Screen brightness turned to medium and EDGE network also on , the battery lasted for more than 1 and a half days .
In Samsung Galaxy Note everything is huge , even the speaker grill below the battery is bigger than any phone I’ve seen.
Take out the battery and SIM Card slot and Micro SD card are visible , Samsung Galaxy Note thankfully takes regular SIM Card and we had been using a 8GB micro SD card from our collection although Samsung Galaxy Note comes with 16GB of inbuilt memory.
Overall once the back cover is put on, Samsung Galaxy Note gives a premium look and feel , it looks more like a tablet as Dell Streak than a phone , we are awaiting Ice Cream Sandwich to be released for it so the difference between tablet and phone Android OS can blur more.
