I have a HTC HD7 which I use as my primary phone switching between it and Samsung Galaxy S2 . After the launch of Nokia Lumia 800 , I’d been seriously pondering switching to it but I’ve forced myself to stop and here is why .
With HTC HD7 I have a 1Ghz processor , 16GB of space and 4.3 inch of screen . I won’t call its camera extremely good but it does the work ( I also carry a N8 as secondary phone and take images from it ) and I don’t like it’s battery life as it lasts for about the day.
With Nokia Lumia 800 , I’ll get a 8 MP Carl Zeiss Camera ( it will take impressive pics after a minor firmware upgrade due soon ) , it has 16GB of space , 1.4 GHZ processor and 3.7 inch of screen.
So If I ‘switch’ ( I’m not using the word upgrade as it’s not ) from HD7 to Lumia 800 , I’ll be trading up to a better camera , faster processor , smaller but better screen and beautiful form factor.
Nokia Lumia 800 also offers some great software advantages over other WP7 devices like Nokia Drive , Nokia Maps ( it will be available on other phones ) and Nokia Music .
Despite all the plus points and looks of Nokia Lumia 800 I’ve stopped myself as in terms of value I’m not getting much , both phones runs Mango , have multi tasking and Office apps , while Nokia Lumia does offer a bit more apps but I’m not big on music neither I use Navigation system within my city so the added software pluses are of not much use for me.
Nokia Lumia did vowed me in terms of it’s looks and I love it’s sleek body as compared to my brick HD7 but looks alone does not justify me spending a huge amount on the same UI experience.
Now my question to you is , should I switch to Nokia Lumia or stay with HD7 ?
Do remember that Windows Phone Apollo is due in 2012 and according to Nokia it will be a major game changer , so in my opinion I better stick with HD7 and save the money to get an Apollo device upon it’s launch.
