Thanks to Nokia Pakistan , we had been using Lumia 930 for the past few days replacing our Lumia 1520 with it to get the feel of the same in a smaller form factor.
Lumia 930, comes with Windows Phone 8.1 / LUMIA Cyan pre installed along with the following specifications
- 5 inch Full HD , 1920 x 1080 , 440 ppi , Gorilla Glass 3 Screen
- 20 MP , Pureview back Camera with Carl Zeiss Lens.
- 1.2MP Front Cam with 1280 x 960 resolution.
- Powered by Qualcomm SnapDragon 800 Quadcore 2.2. GHz
- Battery life of 17.9 hours on 3G thanks to 2420 mAh , inbuilt battery
- Capable of Qi standard , Wireless Charging
- USB 2.0 , Bluetooth 4.0 , Wifi (1,b,g,n,ac) , GPS
- Nano SIM
- For users on Zong and Warid , the set also supports LTE
One thing which we miss on it as compared to our Lumia 1520 is the ability to use external memory , we have enhanced the already available 32GB internal memory on 1520 with another 64 GB micro SD to use with photographs.
If you are in a supported country , Cortana comes pre-activated , else you can use our handy guide to activate it on your device
Microsoft is going minimal with their boxes both in terms of sizes and accessories and the case with Lumia 930 is no different.
The box is quiet ordinary , with Lumia 930 , photos and colors on the top , notice they have only shown the vibrant Orange and Green colors for attention , the time on the standby screen shows , the device number i.e 9:30, a little bit of sublime , don’t you say .
On the back , is the usual device attributes namely HERE Navigation , Qualcomm Snapdragon, Processor , Zeiss and Dolby, there is no mention of PureView Camera , which I think is a mistake on Microsoft side.
On the Pull out box , there is also Eco information about the box , which I think no other manufacturer provides. The information covers the material being used and how to recycle it.
Slide open the box and you’ll see Lumia 930 nicely packed , in all it’s glory.
Micosoft has gone minimalistic even with the accessories , by giving only Sync/Charge USB cable and USB charger , along with user manuals in English and Arabic ( In Pakistan we speak Urdu ) and there is no headset with the device.
Overall , Microsoft is going simplistic and frill free with their packaging and accessories . If we compare it with the same prices devices by Apple and Samsung , we feel that Lumia 930 could have been in a better box ( take design cues from Apple which Nokia was using before ) and Microsoft should think about providing better accessories ( again take cue from Apple , whose headset sounds far better then that from Microsoft).
